Resources

Avli is looking to create a comprehensive resource database for people looking to get involved with creating a more just and sustainable Cyprus. These resources are in constant need of revision, updates and changes, so we encourage you to get in touch with us with any suggestions. Some of these resources come from our current and past projects.

While this is an eternal work in progress, our current list includes: a report on how climate change will (and already has started to) affect Cyprus; measures on how close the Republic of Cyprus is to meeting the targets set in the National Energy and Climate Plan; and various explainers on the environmental and social issues in Cyprus.

Report on Climate Change in Cyprus

Start here if you feel that don’t know enough about climate change – or maybe you know all about climate change, but not how it’s going to affect Cyprus.

Watchdog: Progress from the Republic of Cyprus to meet the NECP

The National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) was prepared by the Republic of Cyprus for the European Commission. We are keeping track of whether the government is on track to meet their targets.

Watchdog: Glossary of relevant climate science terms

The NECP by the RoC mentions targets related to ETS and non-ETS, LULUCF, GHG emissions and RES targets. What what do all those letters stand for? Here are some quick definitions.

Explainers on Environmental Issues in Cyprus

Written by our guest contributors. Current issues include police brutality and the long-term development strategy for lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
