Goals & Mission

Avli’s mission is to provide a space for all people who are interested in the future of Cyprus to contribute and discuss ideas for how we can transform our island. This platform will serve as an online gathering point and resource for those interested in joining the broader movement for a sustainable Cyprus.

Avli seeks to elevate voices, and give them the space to analyze current events in Cyprus and beyond by offering a perspective not often heard in the media. We will be putting forward a vision for a sustainable and united Cyprus, aiming to invigorate discussion and provide critical analysis of current events.

The goal of the project is to make the platform available in English, Turkish and Greek, with the ultimate goal of creating a completely trilingual platform that allows the vast majority of residents in Cyprus to read our site. (We are currently looking for more translators, please get in touch if you can help translate between English/Greek/Turkish!)

We promote a general set of principles. We will allow for a wide breadth of opinions to be published, so long as they are good faith attempts to interrogate and advance the principles of sustainability, unity, multiculturalism, democracy and equity. We aim to invigorate debate, and may publish pieces that directly disagree with one another, so long as the disagreements are founded in substance.

We are also undertaking several projects and always trying to get more resources added to the website. We especially aim to highlight pieces on Cyprus-specific issues, so please let us know if you know of something we can add to our pages.
